River City Rocks - a Benefit for Darfur

On Saturday September 23rd,  an impressive line up of national acts
performed to  help raise awareness about the tragedy taking place
in the western Sudanese region, where humanitarian, security, and
political status there is in crisis.  Over 16 musicians and comedians
where scheduled to take the stage at Brown's island.  There was a
ton of activities for the kids to enjoy, including a rock climbing wall
and a giant gyrospere, there were 20 vendors  present ready and
eager to sell food and drinks.  Unfortunately, the field was practically
empty, one vendor said they were told close to 10,000 people were
expected to attend,  and he and the other vendors were at a
complete loss.  The hope for raising significant funds for the cause
was also at a loss. There is much speculation as to why so little
were in attendance, but the important issue is getting the word out
and raising awareness to help the people of Sudan who are faced
